On the 28th of February 2019, CANARD conducted a successful inspection of PAPI and runway lights at Teruel Airport, in Spain. The operation was carried out as a demo of the capabilities of our system in front of a potential huge customer in the aviation industry. The operation included the verification of the PAPI system at runway 36, as well as the runway lights.
The operation was performed in coordination with the airport and airspace users via VHF radio. Teruel Airport (IATA: TEV, ICAO: LETL) is an airport near Teruel, Spain, certified for public use and with permission for air operations by the Spanish Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA), since February 2013. It serves as an aircraft maintenance facility and aircraft storage.
In addition to these inspections, CANARD showcased our computer vision capabilities, which will reduce the time and cost required for the inspection as well as minimise error and improve accuracy and repeatability.
