CANARD develops a Full Runway Inspection solution based on drones thanks to CDTI NEOTEC grant
Madrid, September 13th, 2018
CANARD is focus on a new R&D Project that will provide a marketable solution for the provision of the full runway inspection service based on drones. The project is being financed throughout a 2017 CDTI NEOTEC grant. The Full Inspection Service (FIS) service will allow CANARD to optimize the inspection process for airport runways. This solution is being integrated as a new functionality in CANARD portfolio.
The system that is being developed  is comprised by a Remotely Piloted Aircraft (drone) with specific sensors on board, Image Processing Software, operation control and management software, APIs and new procedures design, in compatible with international regulation regarding RPAs and airport inspections.
There are several technological challenges in the project, as creating different processing applications to be able to completely replace the current procedures.
CANARD will develop a lights evaluation system and a software that allows measurement of cracks and damages of the asphalt using an innovative solution.
CANARD is working in collaboration with Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M), in the Project “Automatic inspection by artificial vision of the pavement of airports from images captured by a drone”, that will be developed by the Multimedia Processing Research Group belonging to the Department of Signal Theory and Communications.

Project Title

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
