CANARD Drones delivered a complete system for inspection of radio navigation aids to the Indonesian DGAC (Direktorat Jenderal Perhubungan Udara) last December. The system consists of hardware (drone and various equipment) and software (platform and CANARD App) that allow customers to complete the inspection tasks. Also, CANARD has provided the training in Jakarta and has certified the pilots who will operate the system.
CANARD Drones was awarded a public tender from the Ministry of Transport of Indonesia along with his agent in the region, Indomega Teknologi. By adopting this innovative technology, Indonesia takes the leadership in the region in the use of drones for airport infrastructure maintenance.
In the words of Juan Díaz, CTO of CANARD, “besides being innovative, this type of solutions are already included in ICAO manuals and procedures, therefore its implementation is supported. “
CANARD’s solution for navaid inspection is part of a portfolio which comprises diverse solutions, also covering the calibration of PAPI lights and approach lights, as well as pavement condition inspections (PCI, Index) among others. The ongoing project in Indonesia also includes an expansion to cover other maintenance needs.
Indonesia, being the largest archipelago in the world with more than 17,000 islands along 5,150 kilometers from East to West, depends on air transport for an efficient connectivity. The country has more than 650 airports, Soekarno- Hatta International Airport in Jakarta is one of the busiest in the world. According to IATA estimations, the air transport market is expected to grow more than 200% in Indonesia in the next 20 years.
